Connect to windows share: gvfs slow, smbclient fast

Bug Description

If I connect to a windows share using Places | Connect To Server | Windows Share (aka GVFS), a file copies from the server to my machine at 1 MB/sec

If I connect to the same windows share from the same computer using a console "smbclient", the file copies at 15 MB/sec.

Since smbclient can copy the same file from the same server to the same harddrive 15X faster than gvfs, there must be a problem with gvfs.

This has been around for 7 years now. No wonder not that many people switch to Linux
