Bug Description

Binary package hint: gvfs

When my Ubuntu boots, Cairo-Dock gets started, including some browsing applets : Shortcuts and Quick Browser.

Unfortunately, when I click them, nothing happens. I can click a few times, then suddenly many Nautilus windows will open, one for each click I made.

But when Nautilus have already been launched by any other mean (Gnome Menu, whatever), those applets worked correctly and my Nautilus gets open and ready to use in a second!

Just to note that gvfs is used by Cairo-Dock in order to open any URI (e.g. with a launcher to open a folder or with these applets: Quick-Browser, Shortcuts, Folders, etc.)

Confirmed here.

Opening a nautilus window via glx-dock fails on the first attempt, succeeds on the second.

Similarly, opening firefox for the first time via glx-dock fails on the first attempt, works on the second attempt, but also gives the error message:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

gvfs is used by glx-dock to open firefox and nautilus windows.

Distibution: Ubuntu 10.1
Installed gvfs is:
1.6.4-0ubuntu1.1 (maverick-updates)
1.6.4-0ubuntu1 (maverick)

Changed in gvfs (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

More details:
the code uses the function g_app_info_launch_default_for_uri()
with an URi of the type file://...
the problem has already been reported with Nautilus 1 year ago, a fix has been made in gio, but the problem continues to occur (although slightly less often).
if Nautilus has been launched 1 time before (even if the window has been closed then), the URI is always launched correctly.
