I can reproduce this in the live session but only in the live session. In an installed session I do not get this.

Yes this bug is only in the live session.

So this bug needs to be retasked against the right package.

If it helps I've just tried creating a file in the latest daily image for Kubuntu (64-bit) and using the Dolphin File Manager, the file *does* get moved to trash.

tags: added: lubuntu xubuntu

Thunar is the package that is having the issue. Perhaps the work around
would be to use another file manager.

What we know, thunar can't find it. That problem starts there.

Thunar is not installed in Lubuntu.

In Ubuntu I get 'file cannot be moved to trash delete file' warning

Lubuntu is a bit more specific (see screenshot)

Definitely not Thunar - that's just what is showing the issue up for Xubuntu.

I know thunar is not installed in lubuntu. The issue was found in xubuntu
using thunar.

Now that the issue shows up in lubuntu means the problem is more that the
file manager.

affects: thunar (Ubuntu) → gvfs (Ubuntu)
Changed in gvfs (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Confirmed

gvfs-trash file fails in Xubuntu and Ubuntu, Lubuntu apparently doesn't have gvfs-trash installed.

sudo gvfs-trash works in all (once installed in Lubuntu)

deleting a folder works as expected

OK.

I am thinking, gvfs was unable to label the file as located in trash.
Wish I was a developer. I would really like to know technically
gvfs-trash works with the filesystem.

Also affects Ubuntu MATE in the live session only although Caja determines that the Trash is not writable so prompts for permanent deletion.

Is this bug also happening after installation?

When answered, please set this bug status back to "confirmed". Thank you.
