Bug Description
Reroduce: (Ubuntu 13.04 B1)
1.- Connect an MTP device, I used an android device.
2.- mount a samba share , like smb://server/share
3.- try to copy a file from the mounted SMB share, to MTP device.
- you will get an error message.
- copy from local file system to MTP works fine.
I am very glad that you finally added mtp as a standard part of Ubuntu.

This will be fixed, for devices using Google's MTP stack (not Samsung!) by the patches in the upstream bug. For devices without the Google MTP stack, this will never work.
