Bug Description

Reroduce: (Ubuntu 13.04 B1)

1.- Connect an MTP device, I used an android device.
2.- mount a samba share , like smb://server/share
3.- try to copy a file from the mounted SMB share, to MTP device.

- you will get an error message.
- copy from local file system to MTP works fine.

I am very glad that you finally added mtp as a standard part of Ubuntu.

This will be fixed, for devices using Google's MTP stack (not Samsung!) by the patches in the upstream bug. For devices without the Google MTP stack, this will never work.

Fix is merged to upstream master but not in the 1.16 branch that ships with Raring.

This bug was fixed in the package gvfs - 1.17.1-0ubuntu1

---------------
gvfs (1.17.1-0ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
    - Improved MTP backend functionality (LP: #1157586)
    - Many metadata bug fixes.
  * Bump glib and libmtp build dependencies according to configure.ac.
  * Refresh patches.
  * Drop build_old_libgphoto.patch, not necessary any more.
