Closing since this concerns version 1.1.3 of Guvcview.

If the problem persists in version 1.5.3, which is default in Ubuntu 12.04, please open a new bug report.

I also got the same error. I added guvcview's repository and installed the latest version. Now nothing happens when I click on the icon. The application does not open at all. I am using Ubuntu 12.04.
