Bug Description

I have Lubuntu 14.04.2 installed on an ASUS EeePC 1000h. The installed default program for the internal camera is Guvcview (1.7.1-1). All I can get in the way of output is a black screen. I had Lubuntu 14.10 and now 15.04 installed on another partition on the same computer and Guvcview works perfectly in those versions. I reinstalled Guvcview and there was no change in the output. I installed Cheese to make sure that there wasn't a problem with the hardware and using cheese I can take a picture and video without a problem. Is there a problem with Guvcview working in Linux kernel 3.16? Guvcview does work with the Linux kernel 3.19 in Lubuntu 15.04.

Changed in guvcview (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I have both Ubuntu Mate 14.04.02 & Xubuntu 14.04.02 installed on two different laptops and I have this same problem.

In a terminal window I get the following error message:-

(guvcview:3750): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-2k0TO9uust: Connection refused

Guys, I faced the same in a new fresh 14.04.3, but then I've found this PPA with updated guvcview which worked fine:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:pj-assis/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Thank you Rael.
Excellent. Works great with the addition of:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Now guvcview works as it is supposed to.
