Bug Description

When printing on Canon S300 the printout of the test page occupies about 2/3 of the page both in width and height. Printed text is too small. The resolution setting is wrong. On the web resolotions 300x300 and 600x600 dpi are mentioned but the driver offers 360x360 and 720x720.

Printout in 1440x1440 is broken completely the text is stretched in height and garbled.

I got an answer from upstream.

Please set up a print queue choosing the Canon BJC-8200 as your printer model and Gutenprint as the driver. Do you get correct printouts then?

Yes, in 600dpi the printout is 1:1 (which is probably the expected
behavior, from the comments on the web it looks like the driver never
scaled correctly).

Thanks

How does the printer behave for 300 and 1200 dpi?

For the default resolution the printout was about twice as large as
the page. I am not sure what the default resolution was.
gnome-cups-manager showed something like "selected by media type" and
the cups web 1200x1200. There are often discrepancies between the
values shown on the web and in gnome-cups-manager.

Thanks

OK, I tried to print in all three resolutions. 300dpi and 600dpi works, 1200dpi printout is twice as large as it should be. It is the default :-S

I have forwarded your result upstream now.

There is a new Gutenprint package (5.0.1) for Gutsy now (and also available as distribution-independent binary package on OpenPrinting). Please test whether your printer prints correctly with it.
