Binary package hint: guidance-
Same as these bugs, however, it applied to guidance power manager in Kubuntu.

This is using a Kubuntu 8.10 RC fresh install on a Dell Inspiron 1520.
The screen should turn off and stay off when the lid is closed, however, if I move my mouse or press any of the multimedia keys on the front of the laptop (for amarok), the screen will turn back on.

Guidance Power Manager has been removed from Kubuntu 10.04 and onwards since it is unmaintained. Unfortunately, this means that no new features or bugfixes will be made.
