gucharmap hangs on startup

1. Start gucharmap (be it with default font or another one).
2. The main window is displayed correctly.
3. The program freezes, eats 100% CPU. No GUI interaction possible and the window is not even refreshed (if another window is displayed on top, then moved away, the gucharmap window is not repainted).

Maybe the problem is due to many fonts being installed on this machine.

Same problem.

Unfortunately, no output from gucharmap whatsoever.

Interestingly, starting with --font='somefont somesize' displays the chosen font and size, but still opens to a frozen window.

It may just be a coincidence, but running charmap again (without a font selection) produced a usable window!
