Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

Using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope)
apt-cache policy gedit
gedit:
  Installed: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
------
When using Perl code such as this:

my $filename = $ARGV[0];
my $fs = (-s $filename / 153);

the syntax coloring is disrupted for the remainder of the script. These operators are described at http://www.perl.com/doc/manual/html/pod/perlfunc/_X.html

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gedit

ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Updated today to the officially released Karmic Koala, and the syntax coloring is still not behaving properly with the given example.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version.Thanks in advance.

My main machine is running 10.04 LTS at the moment, but I have installed 11.04 in a VirtualBox session, and this bug is still occurring.

As for the matter of it being an issue to me, I have since converted to being a VIM user.
