hibernate/wakeup causes errors if iPOD is plugged in

Binary package hint: gtkpod

Plugged in iPOD and gtkpod started automatically. I did nothing. Later the computer automatically hibernated because of inactivity.

Upon startup, a Warning dialog popped up saying iTunesDB /media/.../iiTuesDB does not match checksum in extended information file /media/.../iTunesDB.ext
gtkpod will try to match the information using SHA1 checksums. This may take a long time.

Since I did not do anything to the iPOD, this seems like it is probably bogus, somehow caused by hibernating and waking up again.

I'll attach a screen-shot of the warning dialog (it would not allow me to cut-and-paste...)

Then I got errors trying to Eject the iPOD; the errors were appended to the existing Warning dialog, and said
"Error opening ..." See gtkpod_errors_ejecting.png for details.

This happened when I tried (rightclick ipod in gtkpod)->Eject iPod

Incidentally, it appears that the ipod is mounted as expected:
$ mount
...
/dev/sdb1 on /media/JIM'S IPOD type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=devkit,uid=2000,gid=2000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,flush)
