cross posting this here since it affects the majority of Ubuntu's UI applications in Ubuntu Noble (eg: settings) and is perceived as a regression by users from Ubuntu Jammy where the majority of applications are GTK3 based.
This is a confirmed GTK4 bug (not mutter) and affects all releases of GTK4 on all DEs/compositors (eg: Gnome with Mutter, KDE with KWin, Unity with compiz)
Hoping to have a ubuntu developer look into this regression since the upstream bug report has existed for almost 1 year with no action from gnome.
