gtk2 applications context menus are slow to open

Bug Description
I use ubuntu 12.04 with gnome shell. In every gtk2 based application(claws mail, liferea, etc) the context menu opens very slow with visual glitches, much slower than context menus in gtk3 applications. I use intel i915 video driver.
