display doesn't show anything without scaling

If virt-manager or Remote Desktop Viewer try to display the screen of a running VM via 127.0.0.1:590x this will only work when the viewer uses some scaling. If virt-manager is used with "Scale Display -> never" no screen is shown. The same is true with Remote Desktop Viewer. Toggeling the button "Fits the remote screen into the current display size" triggers the problem too.
