Connecting to osx 10.4 results in black/blank screen

Bug Description

Binary package hint: vinagre

Connections across local network to several OSX 10.4 machines fail. I have tried several VNC servers on the macs, including apple's native desktop sharing. All with the same result. This connection has not been attempted outside our network via our VPN.

Duplicate bug reports. I am unsure if Vinagre handles the OS X built in VNC server though. I have always installed a sep. client and found success with that.

Please, run vinagre in a terminal: "vinagre --gtk-vnc-debug"
Try to connect into the OSX and paste here the output in terminal.

Managed to gain access to one of the macs on the network. Duplicated those settings on the others - still no connections.

When I try to connect to a Mac with OS 10.5 using Remote Desktop Viewer 2.28.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 I get the following error message:

Authentication Unsupported
Authentication method to host XXXXXXX is unsupported. (30)

The SSH connection works
