Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-main-menu

I'm running Ubuntu netbook edition 10.10 on an eeePC 1005HAB. Due to some issues with Unity I've been using the regular gnome desktop instead. When I try to use parts of the main menu with too many entries to fit on the screen (in particular, the Preferences menu) the usual scroll arrows are there, and I can scroll down to see the entries at the bottom of the list. However, as soon as I move the cursor off of the down arrow to select an entry at the bottom (I was trying to get to the Ubuntu One preferences) the menu jumps back to the top, making it impossible to select the programs at the bottom.

Note: this problem doesn't occur with the standard Ubuntu Menu Bar (there are two menu panel applets to choose from). I changed from the default menu to the gnome main menu applet since it takes up less room (being a single icon), leaving sufficient space for the Window Picker applet.
(I have this applet running because maximized windows in the gnome session were being treated by maximus as though I was still running a netbook session, but that's a whole other bug...)

That's the gnome-panel, not gnome-main-menu. I guess you do not even have gnome-main-menu installed, please check those things first.

affects: gnome-main-menu (Ubuntu) → gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
Changed in gnome-panel (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → New
