Bug Description
If you are trying to open a file through an application's file->open menu, you should be able to right click files in the Open File window and have the same options as you would in the file manager such as rename, properties, open, open with..

This is a feature request, so it cannot be considered a paper cut. (Even if you don't consider this a feature per se, it is not trivial to implement, as Nautilus features can simply be enabled another application.)
