zoom level chooser being displayed ugly

Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Versions
hardy 8.04
Gnome 2.22.3
Evince Document Viewer 2.22.2 (2.22.2-0ubuntu1)

when opening the chooser of the zoom level it seems like the current selected item shall be display vertically in the middle of the space, that this gui element has. This results in ugly white space on the bottom, and the top elements will not be displayed, you have to scroll to see them. once you scrolled this is no problem anymore, then all elements are being displayed.
This happens only if evince is limited in space to the top. If I do the same in the middle of the screen the desired behavior is shown.
you probably didn't understand me, it's really hard to describe, therefore I made some screenshots.
don't know if this is a problem of evince, or this gui element and therefor gtk/gnome or something.
