Subject: Setup assistant freezes after timezone selection

Package: Evolution
Version: 2.0.3-1.2

On initial installation the Configuration Assistant freezes (cpu goes at 100% usage) as soon as I click on "forward" after I select the timezone.

If I run the program from a terminal, here's the display I get (dunno if it might be useful) :

account gui setup
checking writable option 'auth' perms=00000040
checking writable option 'use_ssl' perms=00000010
checking writable option 'auth' perms=00000040
checking writable option 'use_ssl' perms=00000010

The software is unusable as it is.

Regards,

Jeff

I was trying to setup a new account to use evolution and it freeze
completely after timezone selection.

This is a RC bug since looks it's very common.

I too confirm this problem.

Additional notes:

1. While this bug is serious, I don't think it warrants a severity level
of serious. It does not constitute a serious violation of Debian policy
(i.e. violate a "must" or "required" directive).

2. Since Evolution hasn't changed recently, I doubt that this is an
Evolution bug. I tend to believe something else it depends on has
changed, and has caused this new problem.

3. CPU goes to near 100% on system when Evolution freezes.

4. It doesn't seem to happen on all of my systems.

 This bug is said to be fixed in gtk 2.6.2:
< marga> Nope, I search and couldn't find. But I was told by siva on
#evolution that the patch had been applied in 2.6.2=20

 Forwarded URL has a patch.

reassign 293589 libgtk2.0-0
retitle 293589 gtk+ 2.6.1 breaks evolution account creation
Severity 293589 critical

Justification: makes unrelated software on the system (or the whole system)
break,

I just set the "forwarded to upstream" state, but since it only accepts one
address, I'm including the rest here.

* http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3D70692
They claim it's a gtk 2.6 problem. There's a simple patch. And it's
supposed to be applied upstream.

* http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3D71552
Has a link to gentoo's bugzilla with a patch __to evolution__ to solve the
problem: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D79200
In the gentoo page, there's the patch, and it also says that "this is fixed
with gtk+-2.6.1-r2"

* http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3D71964
Just another bug report

With all this information, I'd say that this bug actually belongs to gtk2.6
package. I've asked in #evolution on irc, and they told me that with the
gtk+ 2.6.2 that was released yesterday this bug is fixed.

I'm reassigning. The resolution would be to package 2.6.2 ASAP.

Since this bug is reported to be fixed in gtk+ 2.6.2, and that is now the
version in unstable, I gather that this bug can be closed; I'm assuming it
was left open only because the maintainer missed it when preparing the
upload (probably because it was marked as forwarded, and was therefore
hiding on the BTS page).

If you still experience this problem after installing gtk+ 2.6.2, please
reopen.

Thanks,
