Bug Description

Binary package hint: gthumb

If I open multiple selected images from file browser context menu (open with gthumb), even if the folder is selected, catalogs are displayed. If I need to show folder, I must switch to catalogs and switch back to folders.

If you select multiple files, gThumb is supposed to go into the catalog mode and show the "Command Line Catalog". That part of your report is "not a bug".

However, the Catalog/Folder buttons for switching modes do seem to be broken. This has been reported upstream as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=536428.

If multiple files are selected and all of them are from same folder, the behavior to choose "Command Line Catalog" is not logical to me. I usually browse with file browser and when I enter the folder which contains pictures I want to see or edit, I select them all and open with gthumb. Something like "browse with gthumb" is the option I am trying to mimic.

I tried to install, but without success. After installation, there is no gthumb executable in the system.

The bug still exists in karmic. #2 reply by Michael Chudobiak claims that it is intended behavior. The problem is if I open selected images with gthumb, the folder from which they are originating is not set as current folder. If you try to rename, image disappears from command line catalog (it is in it's folder but not shown in gthumb). If you try to scale, all scaled images are not saved in the folder from which are opened but in the home folder by default and also disappear from gthumb.
If I click Catalogs and Folders after that, operations are done in the correct folder.
