Bug Description

Gthumb version: 3.6.1
Ubuntu version: 18.04

What you expected to happen: Browse/Edit photos without all my 16GB of RAM being used up and my system freezing up.

What happened instead: Gthumb uses all memory available on the system.

Gthumb 3.8, browsing in a directory with >1300 pictures, mixture of webp and jpeg.
Gthumb consumes all RAM (32GB), causing system to stutter.
