totem could not play music or video files

3) totem should play audio and video files

4) it is asking for installation of plugins; once i click installed nothing happen after.

Problem had been fixed using this command: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

I am sure some files were missing or not all the formats were downloaded the first time. Thanks for your help.
