Totem treats mkv extremely bad

Sometimes I try to watch a film from an mkv file that includes multiple language possibilities and/or subtitles I have many problems with that. When I try to change some of these it often freezes and i have to restart the program. Once set it goes well, but during changing language or subtitle it often fails going further.

Now on a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 the change of languages and subtitles is quiet smooth but it is almost impossible to jump inside the folw of a moovie. I'm not sure if it should be described like this. If I try to go forward or backward inside a moovie totem dies almost every time. It might be becouse of HD resoluton but I am not sure aboiut this.
