Bug Description

I was told to file a bug report against gstreamer from my original bug report Bug #849474 about Cheese.

When trying to open Cheese the GUI does not appear and the proccess for Cheese starts to use up ram at a very fast rate.

I am unsure what is needed in the report so I have installed libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg as instructed and then done another backtrace on Cheese (attached).

Sorry I think I attached the old cheese backtrace, this is the current one with libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg installed.

same experience using a 11.10 system, Lenovo laptop, in-built camera.

Attached from top shows how cheese INITIALLY takes near 100% of the CPU (Celeron 900 @ 2.2GHz), then 'not much' whilst near all the free RAM (system has 1GByte) AND swap space is consumed by cheese.

No other applications running; tested was initiated on a newly booted system. Skype + VLC + guvcview all 'seem to work fine'.

System becomes un-responsive (due to it thrashing the disk) until a run-away process killer kills cheese & recovers the memory + swap space.
