Bug Description

Playing music in Banshee will work for a little bit, then fail (Banshee's song progress bar will stop where it is).

If I pause/resume it will pick up again, but where it would have been if it had never paused (and Banshee's song progress bar will zoom forward). Then fail again a few seconds later.

Sometimes Banshee will freeze completely and need to be force-quit.

Hi Michael, does the same thing occur with rhythmbox?

When using banshee, please get a log as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log.

Thanks

Yes, it does happen in Rhythmbox. Here's the pulse log for a run in Rhythmbox. I opened it, played a file, and it immediately entered frozen mode (sometimes a few seconds of music play first, but not this time).

Just tested and without pulseaudio running, totem, rhythmbox, and banshee all seem to work fine.

Once I have pulseaudio running again, they each do the freezing thing.

What happens with a music player that uses pulse, but does not use gstreamer, say mplayer as an example?

Mplayer plays music just fine (and I made sure to use -ao pulse). So looks like a gstreamer issue?

Switching to gstreamer package then. Any good logs I could provide?

affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) → gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu)
