Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * Do you get it on any video format and using totem-xine too?

 This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

yes it is reproducible.

with totem-xine the video playback works just fine

somebody having the issue should open that on bugzilla.gnome.org, it could be a gstreamer bug

Pedro Villavicencio (pedro) wrote :

you might want to get a gstreamer log before send it there, just run totem as: GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem 2> log and attach the log to the upstream report.

$ GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem 2> log
bash: log: Permission denied

Any more suggestions?

any news about this Bugabundo,did you send it upstream?

i dont (yet) have an account on gnome.... will try to open on in the weekend.

but the command you provided me, didnt work.

Sebastien Bacher (seb128) wrote :

did you try running it in a directory when you have write permission? it seems just you can't write there

as always, you seem to be correct.
on /tmp it worked.

tried also with totem-xine and got a different bug: audio gets out of sinc, but video playback is ok,
