Bug Description

On a laptop with a sis 651 graphics card, totem refuses to start on Dapper Flight 3 live CD (x86).

The error message states that the video output is already in use by another program.

I've tried changing the gstreamer video sink to no avail.

the same exact thing happens to me, though i'm trying Flight 3 inside a VM window.

"The video output is in use by another application. Please close other video applications, or select another video output in the Multimedia Systems Selector."

As a side note, i dont seem to find any "Multimedia Systems Selector" anywhere on the menus.

Exact same problem here. I have a recent (unsupported) nvidia video card using the vesa driver. totem is using gstreamer. I'll be glad to provide more details if needed.

do you all still have this problem?
and does changing video output in gstreamer-properties to "XWindows (no XV)" fix it?

you could also try install gstreamer0.10-sdl and choosing that in gstreamer-properties...

OK, I've tested flight 5 on my laptop, and the example video plays fine, no problems.

I'd leave a week to allow the others to respond ( I don't know if the nvidia card was the same bug). But AFAIAC this is just a case of brackage passing to gst0.10.

Thanks for the followup

It works fine for me as well now. Huh, I don't seem to be authorized to mark as fixed...

Manu, you probably tried to edit the upstream task, now they just get the status auto-updated according to the upstream bug they point to (should be possible to edit it if there is no upstream task though, or you should be forced to provide an upstream bug number to open a task, that is beeing discussed...)

Changed in totem:
status: Unconfirmed → Fix Released
