Bug Description

Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-pitfdll

Inside the medibuntu repositories, there's a special package of the w32codecs, called w64codecs, for Ubuntu 64-bit systems. But what about gstreamer0.10-pitfdll? There's no 64-bit version of this package. This means gstreamer can't use those codecs.

I have this same exact problem and can confirm that there is no pitfdll for amd64 which is frustrating because a patch has been released for this problem as indicated in this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10-pitfdll/+bug/114079

So while there is a work around for 32 bit , why is there no work around for amd64 bit yet ?

I don't think this is a duplicate.

From the authors file(from 2005):
Based on the Xine plugin (http://xine.sf.net/)
Which is once again based on avifile (http://avifile.sf.net/)
Which is, more so, based on Wine (http://winehq.org/)

If you have a look at the source, you'll see a lot 32bit specific stuff.

Maybe 64bit wine is more ready now, and somebody could implement what's needed to load dll's from w64codecs?
