Bug Description

Binary package hint: gscan2pdf

Ubuntu 10.10 - the Maverick Meerkat
gscan2pdf 0.9.31-2
Using a Canon CanoScan LiDE 25

The scanner light stays on even after closing gscan2pdf, rather than switching off. To overcome this using the same application, there are 2 ways:

#1.
In the "Scan Document" window, under the "Device-Settings" tab, either tick or untick the "Lampswitch" box to turn the light off.
This is if the "Lamp-off" value is set too high (in hundreds that is, say 300).

#2.
In the "Scan Document" window, under the "Device-Settings" tab,
- make sure there's a tick in the "Lampswitch" box
- change the "Lamp-off" value to 10 or lower (say, 1) instead of using the default value.
At "1" (or "10"), the light will turn off as the scanner head makes it way to its home position after scanning an A4-sized item. Setting the value to zero "0" makes the light stay on (as did the default value).
- ticking of leaving the "Lampswitch" box makes no difference.

Or using another application, one can simply run Simple Scan, just for the purpose of switching the scanner lamp off.

Neither ticking nor leaving empty the "Lamp off at exit" box under the "Device-Settings" tab in the "Scan Document" window makes any difference in turning the scanner light off upon exiting the program.

All these options are simply passed straight on from the backend. I
don't know what SimpleScan does differently.

Please start gscan2pdf from the command line:

$ gscan2pdf --debug

Reproduce the problem(s), and post the output from the command line.

Sorry, I don't know because:
i. I no longer use the software, and
ii. I have gotten myself a new scanner.

Changed in gscan2pdf (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
