2012-05-24 09:59:37 Christian Heimes description From bug #972221 comment #4: I get this message at boot after the most recent grub update. I didn't get it before and didn't see any errors when updating grub. (It did ask and overwrite my /etc/default/grub which I had modified.) -- Unlike the reporter of that bug, I still see this with version 1.99-21ubuntu1 of the grub packages. It doesn't come up every boot, but every once in a while (may be connected to whether I reboot to/from Windows or do a hard boot, but can't say for sure). The exact error message is: "error: invalid blocklist Press any key to continue..." This message comes up after the Ubuntu kernel has been selected. Pressing a key lets the boot continue normally. Additionally before the grub screen comes up a black screen with the message "error: invalid blocklist" repeated twice flashes by quickly. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: grub2 (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-21.34-generic 3.2.13 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Apr 4 18:33:46 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha amd64 (20120319) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: grub2 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) From bug #972221 comment #4: I get this message at boot after the most recent grub update.
