Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

on EFI systems grub2 can not detect the holding of the shift key yet and so it's impossible to get the boot menu unless one manually sets GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false and comment GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT out in /etc/default/grub

The odd thing here is that this *should* be handled - we call 'keystatus' first without arguments to find out if getting key modifier status is supported, and fall back to alternative code if it isn't. But I can quite well believe that there are problems here.

Changed in grub2 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Triaged
