Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

through time & continued updates the menu becomes huge & unmanageable for the average user.
Suggestion ; automatically maintain in the menu and in the archives only the current & last 2 versions of Ubuntu.

Obviously, if you have done various updates the newest is working, & the oldest is Redundant - useful life over.

A security issue developes in that users are confused which item to click.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

security vulnerability: yes → no
visibility: private → public

it does permit a user to potentially loose track of where he is at - click
wrong.
That gives the security characteristic.

Thanks for your report. This is essentially the same as bug 540452, which is fixed in Natty.

Great. I use 10.4 because in 10.10 upport for my HP scanner was *gone.*
When is the next LTS ?

None destructive upgrades are available using the update manager.
When will they be a part of CD download?

The next LTS will probably be 12.04. I cannot speak to your HP scanner
problems. You can upgrade non-destructively using the alternate install
CD.

(Please take further general questions somewhere else, though - bug
reports should be just for specific software errors.)
