Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 beta. Since yesterday, grub-pc update ends with this error :

"Generating grub.cfg ...
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/mapper/isw_jaigchfec_VOL15. Check your device.map."

I'm using my laptops built-in Intel's fakeRaid with mirrored two sata drives.
my GRUB2 BOOT partition is on RAID too.
I'm not so experienced with Linux, just beginning to learn this year. However, I'm an experienced IT specialist for 10+ years, so I can follow any command you provide with.

Here's the related partitions.
/dev/mapper/isw_jaigchfec_VOL13 is BOOT
/dev/mapper/isw_jaigchfec_VOL15 is Ubuntu

Although Ubuntu boots and runs normally, grub-pc update fails.

I think I have solved the problem partially. I have edited "/etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub" and "/etc/kernel/postrm.d/zz-update-grub" files as root and disabled the line "exec update-grub" by prefixing it with "#". Then re-run the Ubuntu Update Manager, this time it succeeded all the updates. After the installation, I have reverted the above two files to their originals and re-run update-grub, this time with no failure! Lucky me :) After all these updates, Ubuntu 10.10 now looks gorgeous!
