Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub-pc

I am using grub-pc version 0.97-29ubuntu60. My expectation is that the following /etc/default/grub would display a ten-second countdown during boot-up. Instead, nothing is being displayed and the system boots immediately.

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false
GRUB_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

It would seem that, at the very least, grub is not honoring non-zero values of GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT.

This seems to be the same as bug #647250. I have attached a fix to that bug that works on Lucid, but unfortunately not on Maverick any more.
