I have started seeing wubi users overwriting their MBR with grub2 after running the latest updates - probably this patch. It's not clear yet whether they are prompted to select the drive or it's doing it automatically - I am trying to get feedback - but either way this seems to be a continuation of the 'confusion'. Unfortunately many new wubi users don't have a live CD either, but from one bootinfoscript it's grub2 in multiple MBRs all pointing to #256.
In light of this, until this can be confirmed or refuted, I recommend pulling the update, as the consequences will be very unfortunate. I am not saying this is 100% the case, but a cluster of these has shown up recently.
