harddisk/partition = /dev/sdb /dev/sdc as RAID1
configured with LVM2 = '(vg_1-boot)', '(vg_1-root)', '(vg_1-home)', '(vg_1-data)',
using grub-pc, grub-common (Version 1.98-1ubuntu4)
Grub ist starting and selected menuentry will boot correctly.
The value of "GRUB_DEFAULT=
Changes by = "grub-set-default 1" to grubenv inside a termianl will be read out and used correctly.
Same grub 2 configuration using a normal partition (without RAID / LVM) on an other computer works as expected.

I'm not sure I agree that this is exactly a duplicate of bug 625234. The reason is that fixing that bug would not be enough to fix this one. LVM and RAID writing are both, separately, unimplemented in GRUB, and both methods need to be implemented in order to fix this bug. Only LVM writing needs to be implemented in order to fix bug 625234.
