Beeing noisy J have upgraded from Karmic to Lynx Beta
Everything went well until grub2 asked me where to put grub. I think I should have checked sda but I also checked sda2 and sda5 and sda.
When I hit <ok> I could see some messages on the screen saying basically "what you are doing is stupid" but the program continued anyway leaving me with a perfect lynx but also with a nowaytobooteven
What I suggest is that the option is greyed out on windows partitions. For specialists like me :-) there could be an expert menu (marked with a skull) .
Thanks for your report. I'm dealing with this issue as bug 576724.
