I, too, am of the opinion that this is not a duplicate bug.
This one clearly is caused by Dell DataSafe Local Backup (DDSLB). It happened to me the moment I rebooted after a DDSLB update (in Win 7). I had to re-install GRUB from a LiveCD*, but booting into Win 7 would cause the problem again. Only uninstalling DDSLB from Win 7 has solved the problem (at least so far - I'll update if it comes back).**
