Bug Description

On four (4) different systems now, the newly 'Ubuntu 9.10' installed won't multi-boot members of the 'mandriva' family: 'pclos' and 'caixa magica 14' => Ubuntu 9.04 would boot all of them!! Please fix!!

Thank you for the report, but this is not a launchpad bug, re-assigning to Ubuntu.
We're interested in why you accidentally recorded this bug as occurring in launchpad instead of Ubuntu. If you can explain what happened, please let us know in bug 88818.

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Karmic's or Lucid's packages?
Thanks in advance

The reason and the bases of the problem is very simple:
1. Ubuntu now uses 'Grub2'
2. PCLOS still uses 'Legacy Grub'
The problem then applies to all 'Legacy Grub' and 'Grub2' distros; since their 'configuration' files do have different names - and reside in different locations - unkwnown and unsuspected to the 'booting' distro!!
Thanks!!
