Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

The system was upgraded via "aptitude dist-upgrade"; the upgrade started and I left the computer.
After I came back an hour later the terminal window was empty (no cursor, etc).
This is when probably the crash happened.

After "sudo dpkg --configure -a" the system asked me if I want to keep the modified version of the file /etc/default/grub

I was updating my Xubuntu Karmic Beta with updater-GUI and got same kind of behavior. Details are alike with those Katsudon has experienced.

During addition of suggested upgrades I looked at existng and new grub config lines when offered. I declined to change and the pakcage routine gave me an error screen then proceeded. I clicked on the red splash and got this invitation to report.

I had the same problems as b355_etude. I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. After install I ran the update tool and was offered a choice to change the grub configuration to the developer's version or keep the current. I chose to view the differences. From the differences window I hit "cancel" thinking it would drop me back to the previous screen. Instead it went forward and but failed to complete the upgrade. Afterwards I ran "sudo dpkg --configure -a" through synaptic and this seems to have fixed it.
