Bug Description

I installed the karmic beta on my netbook and all was working fine. Today I did an update, after which ubuntu failed to boot with the error "unable to mount root fx on unknown-block(0,0)". Replacing the root=UUID=... linux parameter with root=/dev/sda1 made the os boot again.

The UUID in /boot/grub/grub.cfg matches the UUID in /etc/fstab and the output of "ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/".

I'm sorry that this has gone so long without a response. Karmic is no longer supported. If you still have this issue with a supported release, can you post your /boot/grub/grub.cfg file, and the output of sudo blkid?

Changed in grub2 (Ubuntu):
