after every update of karmic the grub.cfg file contains the entry --no floppy which prevents booting up on a laptop, since there is no floppy. I must edit the file each time.

Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub

Described above. The same file grub.cfg is installed with the entry --no floppy with every upgrade. This entry prevents booting until altered on the safe boot option. When I edit the actual file it changes back to the original on update. I have a laptop and no floppy.

grub.cfg is grub2 not grub-legacy.
Are you talking about the search lines?
Then it may be a duplicate of this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/391044

affects: grub (Ubuntu) → grub2 (Ubuntu)

yes, that's it after search, first entry.
