grub-pc configure fails during upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04

Bug Description
During upgrade to 24.04 and afterwards when executing "apt upgrade" I get the following error:
Setting up grub-pc (2.12-1ubuntu7) ...
Installing for i386-pc platform.

The system does function normally, but I can not finish the upgrade.
