Bug Description

I tried to install Ubuntu Jellyfish on a Laptop with Win11. EFI-Partition is 500 MB. Installation worked perfectly (as usual), but while trying to install GRUB, the installer crashed.

Description: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
Release: 22.04

grub:
  Installiert: (keine)
  Installationskandidat: (keine)
  Versionstabelle:

I expected grub to install and configure, but instead a window "installer crashed" opened.

grub-installer does not exist as a separate package in 22.04. Reassigning to ubiquity.

The error in the log is:

Jan 31 18:13:31 kubuntu grub-installer: info: Running chroot /target grub-install --force --target x86_64-efi "/dev/nvme0n1p2"
Jan 31 18:13:31 kubuntu grub-installer: x86_64-efi wird für Ihre Plattform installiert.
Jan 31 18:13:31 kubuntu grub-installer: grub-install: Fehler: Unbekanntes Dateisystem.
Jan 31 18:13:31 kubuntu grub-installer: error: Running 'grub-install --force --target x86_64-efi "/dev/nvme0n1p2"' failed.

So what filesystem is on /dev/nvme0n1p2?

so at this point it's fine.

Jan 31 18:02:01 kubuntu 05efi: result: /dev/nvme0n1p2@/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi:Windows Boot Manager:Windows:efi

still fine here.

Even here it still looks correct.

So unclear why grub fails to install on it. Reassigning to grub2.

affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) → grub2 (Ubuntu)
