This indicates that the file /boot/grub/grubenv is corrupted.

This can happen if hard resetting the machine or if the disk has corruption.

To procede, you may delete that file. Some information may be lost about which boots were successful and any custom grub environment you added, but well that's the price to pay.

I suggest you look at SMART report for your disk and run a disk checker to check if the disk is perhaps failing.
