You appear to be missing a required library. Please run ldd `which grub-mkdevicemap` and apt-cache policy libudev1 and post the results.

It is "ldd `which grub-mkdevicemap` ( note the ldd part ) that I needed you to run. Or since you have already run which grub-mkdevicemap, now you can just run "ldd /usr/sbin/grub/mkdevicemap".

The original error indicated that the system could not find libudev.so.1, but ldd says it can find it. Can you run sudo apt-get install -f and see if you still get the original error?
