Bug Description
Problem configuring grub after upgrading 12.04LTS to 14.04LTS.
The hardware is a Fujitsu Siemens Primergy RX100 S7 server with a RAID1 configured storage.
The first time I installed Ubuntu on this server i had to use the desktop version (strange!) because the server installer couldn't find the hard drive, but the desktop version could!
Now I did the release upgrade and it failed to update grub.
To solve this problem I rebooted the machine, the grub console prompt showed, and I wrote:
grub> set root=(hd0,1) <- my boot partition
grub> linux /vmlinuz-
grub> initrd /initrd.
grub> boot
The machine successfully booted and then I did:
# sudo su
# update-grub
# grub-install /dev/mapper/

Let's just make sure to begin with that the partition is indeed what we expect: ddf1_4c53492020 202020808627c30 000000047114711 00001450p1
/dev/mapper/
^ This should be the partition used for /boot.
Could you also please re-run grub-install with the '-v' switch so we have additional information about how it attempts to setup the bootloader?
