Bug Description

Updated my Oneric test server today and was prompted via debconf to accept or reject changes to menu.lst. There are no manual changes in the diff (see screenshot).

Marking high and milestoning as this seems like a significant server usability regression.

Moving to grub, since menu.lst isn't grub2. Note that this means this will only happen to people who've been upgrading since we installed grub by default, or people who manually selected grub for some reason.

I suspect that this is unfixable for Oneiric. One of the reasons grub.cfg is generated the way it is in grub2 is that this kind of bug couldn't be fixed in grub without causing something else to go wrong.

That's very odd. This was originally installed for Natty. /var/log/installer/media-info:

Kubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Beta i386 (20110330)

So why is this file even on the system?

Wait. Nevermind.

I lost track of which system I was on.

Won't fix for Oneiric, as explained - I think this is too risky to attempt to change now, and shouldn't affect most default installations.
