Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub

I have two installations of Ubuntu 10.04, one installed on a linux software RAID1 and another on a single hard drive. If the RAID1 installations is put on first, followed by the installation on the single drive, GRUB will not recognize the RAID1 installation. This problem was further aggravated when trying to upgrade to 10.10. Once upgrading the installation on the single drive, Grub no longer recognizes the RAID 1 installation. I believe this is an issue with the autodetection implemented with Grub 2.

I believe this might be an issue with mdadm not loading properly because of Grub being put on the mbr of the single drive.
