Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub

I am using ext4 as my / partition. After a system crash grub will no longer boot with Error 15.
I had to boot from CD or USB and run update-grub to fix it.
This happened every time it crashed (my system was crashing a lot due to suspend/resume issues).
It would boot fine after most if not all normal restarts.

I Updated to grub-pc and everything is working fine.

How come grub-pc is not installed when selecting ext4 during install?
or at least a suggestion?

I was using grub version 0.97-29ubuntu53

NOTE: attached logs are after I updated to grub-pc, ie a working system, sorry.

I also observe the same issue with ubuntu 9.04 under ext4 partition.

Pretty bad so far, I didn't know I can run update-grub so I actually reinstalled my system twice now.
